"Coin Operated" emerged in Jonas&Lander's artistic career following an invitation from BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts. In this invitation, the duo was encouraged to develop their practices in a museum context. This led to the creation of the hybrid "Coin Operated", an installation-performance aimed at unconventional spaces, where the dialogue with the audience is direct and the continuity of the performance depends on the dynamics of this same dialogue. The mutation between installation and performance occurs through the audience being invited to insert €1 coins into the slot of two horses where Jonas and Lander are sitting in suffocating immobility. From that moment, when the connection between horse and coin occurs, the installation ends to make way for the performance.

With this work, Jonas&Lander aim to bring the spectator closer, in which they take an active role in the consequences and dynamics of the action, celebrating an unexpected dialogue with each presentation.
