Bate Fado
"Bate Fado", by Jonas&Lander, is a hybrid show between dance and music concert with 9 performers: 4 dancers, 4 musicians and a fadista (dancer). Like most urban musical movements, such as Samba or Flamenco, Fado also had its own dances. In Lisbon, the dance that had the greatest expression was Fado Batido, a dance based on energetic and virtuoso tap dancing.
In "Bate Fado", Jonas&Lander propose to reinterpret the act of tapping Fado, where the dance emanates the quality of a percussion instrument in dialogue with the voice and guitars.
"Bate Fado" reveals itself as the first step towards rescuing the dance that Fado has lost.
